Combinations Ladder | Combining Sports | Bundled Separate Activities
Multiple outdoor activities can be combined to increase the number of outdoor
opportunity available to you. For example, using a car allows you to take
advantage of out-of-town trails. A canoe allows you to access hiking trials
that you must cross a body of water to reach. Some combinations are common,
some are unusual and some are crazy. An unusual sight would be someone
using a canoe and cross-country skis. A canoe can actually be dragged
across the snow using a special harness. This then is an easier portage
then carrying the canoe on your shoulders. The time frame when there is
skiable snow and open water at the same time is narrow of course.
Instead of listing all the possible ways of combining outdoor activities, it is easier to present a 'combinations ladder'. Most of the time a person would start near the top of the ladder and work his way down, but valid combinations exist going sideways or up the ladder.

Skiing and Snowshoeing together
Snowshoes can be easily be put in a specially designed backpack and harnessed on your back. How can skies be carried? On a backpack maybe?
