The King swing
Kiiking
Kiiking is the sport of going
over the top on a swing all 360
degrees. It started in Pärnu, Estonia in 1997 and
now there
are competitions and many world record attempts.
Kiiking can't be attempted with a regular swing. A kiiker must be able to safely go over the top while standing on the seat of the swing. So the seat has to be stiff and the rope not be made of metal loops.
Kiiking requires strength and
the longer the swing, the more
strength is required. The current world record is 7.01 meters
by Andrus
Aasamäe on July
16,
2000 in Rakvere, Estonia.

"Russian engineers have resurrected a 30-year
old Soviet Military
prototype to develop "Quickwalker" boots - a hydraulic piston mounted
on each boot is driven by an engine contained in the heel to supplement
the human walking motion and allow the user to jump over obstacles two
metres high, take four
metre strides and run at up to 60kph
over long distances. Small tanks
on the side of the titanium and
aluminium frame boots hold enough fuel to cover a distance of
approximately 20km."
